Martyr Art “Fear/Faith Machines”

Updated: Jan 14, 2019

The brainchild of Joe Gagliardi III, a New York state multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer and visual artist, MARTYR ART formed in 2004. Since inception, Gagliardi, under the Martyr Art moniker, has self-released 9 singles, 5 full-length albums, 2 EPs and has composed music for over 20 commissioned releases for radio, theater, and commercials. The prolific songwriter brings out the latest chapter in his attempts to write the soundtrack to Earth’s dystopian future, “Fear/Faith Machines”, a full-length release, further maintaining Martyr Art’s vision. Strongly anchored into the mid to late 1990s sounds of alt-metal (Static-X, Slipknot), and industrial metal (Fear Factory), the self-dubbed “digital metal” sound, on the latest release also incorporates solid doses of groove thrash (Pantera), djent, hardcore, and electronica. All well intertwined together, following the clear vision pertaining to the sound and artistic direction. Gagliardi’s strong suit here is his very diverse vocal delivery, clearly influenced by the likes of Zak Tell (Clawfinger), Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Mike Patton (Faith No More) and even Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode). Also worth mentioning is the quality sound production, which maintains clarity even under the most dense musical circumstances, thundering drums and Gagliardi’s razor-sharp guitar tone.
